Allie & Brandon’s Beautiful Royal Melbourne Fall Wedding

Allie and Brandon met their Freshman year of college in Brooklyn on the robotics team. They didn’t really talk until one day when Brandon wiped out on his bike and Allie let him borrow her brother’s sweatpants that she had “borrowed” to take with her to college. They became friends and started dating at the end of that school year – within a month they had booked a trip to Iceland together.

Conrad connected with Allie and Brandon when they were in town from Vermont over the Summer for a sweet engagement session on the campus of Northwestern University. He loved exploring with Allie and Brandon, they were up for adventure and so adorable together! He was really excited to photography Allie and Brandon’s wedding with Lindsay the last weekend of October at Royal Melbourne Country Club, it was an absolutely gorgeous day!!

Allie got ready with her bridesmaids at Royal Melbourne and looked radiant when she slipped into her beautiful gown with sweet bow details. Brandon tied his own bowtie, which honestly impressed us, we have never seen a groom pull that off before! Allie and Brandon chose to share private vows with one another after their first look, it was just the most romantic moment to witness. They quietly shared their vows together while wiping away plenty of tears. After their private vows we explored the pretty grounds of Royal Melbourne in the Fall sunshine with their supportive and fun wedding party. It was just such a gorgeous day!

After their emotional ceremony and Allie and Brandon were officially married the cerebration truly began. During their reception guests were treated to a delicious meal and some thoughtful toasts in honor of the newlyweds. We snuck outside with Allie and Brandon to take a few more photos during the gorgeous Fall sunset, this truly was the perfect day! We are so grateful to have been part of this joyful celebration and hope that Allie and Brandon have an amazing adventure together in Italy for their honeymoon early next year!

Congratulations, Allie and Brandon, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Elizabeth & Matt’s Stunning Metropolis Ballroom Wedding

Elizabeth and Matt first met in high school where they both had study hall in the library at the same time. Elizabeth had an unrequited crush on Matt in high school; a few years later they bumped into each other at a concert . . .

Elizabeth and Matt first met in high school where they both had study hall in the library at the same time. Elizabeth had an unrequited crush on Matt in high school; a few years later they bumped into each other at a concert and started catching up from there. They hung out a few times that Summer before Elizabeth went back to Kentucky for her Senior year of college. They made it “official” over Winter break that year and the rest is history!

When Elizabeth and Matt’s wedding day rolled around we were blessed with the most gorgeous Fall weather, Christy and Ryan and I were all so excited to capture this beautiful day! Elizabeth and her girls were all wearing the cutest cozy cardigans while they got ready together, we love the idea of having something cute AND practical to gift your bridesmaids that they can wear over and over again!

Elizabeth was understandably nervous at the beginning of her wedding day but sweetly said early on “I trust you” when we were doing her “getting ready” photos, which was just honestly the best thing a bride could say to us. Once Elizabeth was dressed and saw her Dad she became a bit less nervous and before long we were on our way to St. James in Arlington Heights for their traditional Catholic wedding ceremony.

Matt was fighting back tears as Elizabeth walked down the aisle, she looked radiant and once her Dad hugged her Matt didn’t take his eyes off his bride the entire day. Once they were pronounced husband and wife we had so much fun taking pictures of the newlyweds with their family and friends! We made our way to Busse Woods and found the prettiest pocket of yellow leaves and streaming sunshine. Elizabeth and her bridesmaids all looked gorgeous against the Fall colors, and Matt and his guys (including his identical twin!) looked great as well.

Once we finished with photos we made our way to The Metropolis Ballroom where we were greeting by a sign that said “Let’s Get this Party Started” which was just perfect given the reception that Elizabeth and Matt threw for their guests. Elizabeth and Matt are perfect together, and their wedding celebration reflected their love for one another in such a fun way. We were honored to be a part of this unforgettable day!!

Congratulations, Elizabeth and Matt, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Siobhan & Michal’s Fun Venuti’s Wedding

Siobhan and Michal were best friends for 12 years, and it took a global pandemic to bring them together. They fell in love over the distance of Covid and got engaged at her parents’ old house . . .

Siobhan and Michal were best friends for 12 years, and it took a global pandemic to bring them together. They fell in love over the distance of Covid and got engaged at her parents’ old house. Siobhan told us that Michal “is the best man I have ever met. I have never felt as safe as I do in a relationship with him.” We were thrilled to meet Siobhan and Michal through Christy’s sister Jo and honored to be invited to photograph their wedding this Fall!

Conrad and Christy were excited to meet up with Siobhan and her beautiful bridesmaids (including Christy’s sister Jo!) at the Hilton Garden Inn in Addison on a perfect Fall morning. Everyone was in high spirits and seemed ready to party to celebrate Siobhan and Michal! After their sweet “First Look” everyone ventured to Busse Woods for photos with the wedding party before the ceremony. The Fall colors really looked beautiful set against the wedding party’s green and black colored outfits!

After capturing some romantic portraits of Siobhan and Michal it was time to head to the northwest outskirts of Chicago for their traditional ceremony at St. Eugene’s Church. There were plenty of tears and joy as Siobhan and Michal made things official and started their married lives together! With family in to celebrate from around the world the party officially kicked off once the ceremony ended. Conrad and Christy made their way to Venuti’s where the hall was perfectly decorated to reflect Siobhan’s vision of a romantic garden wedding. The joy and energy during this reception was palpable, everyone was truly so happy to be celebrating Siobhan and Michal! We were honored to be a part of this beautiful and unforgettable day!

Congratulations, Siobhan and Michal, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Megan & Steve’s Sweet Elk Grove Pavilion Wedding

Megan and Steve met the “old-fashioned” way – on Bumble – and had their first date at Dave and Busters. They fell for each other because of shared interests and hobbies like Lego and found joy and love in being their nerdy . . .

Megan and Steve met the “old-fashioned” way – on Bumble – and had their first date at Dave and Busters. They fell for each other because of shared interests and hobbies like Lego and found joy and love in being their nerdy selves together. When the time came Steve proposed to Megan while playing the song “Kiss the Girl” in the background as a nod to her love of The Little Mermaid and their fairytale adventure truly began!

I first became friends with Megan when we attended Meadows Christian Fellowship together, and I was always struck by her creativity and loyalty to her friends. When I heard the good news that Megan was getting married I was so happy for her, and then truly honored to be asked to be a part of this wedding. It was so great getting to know Steve at their engagement session last Spring, as Megan has said he “loves her well” and it filled my heart seeing my friend with someone who is attentive, kind and deeply caring.

When Megan and Steve’s wedding day arrived I was excited to work with Conrad and Ryan to capture all of the unforgettable moments. We arrived at Megan’s childhood home and loved discovering cute pics of little Megan all over, and I had a lot of fun photographing their wedding details – my favorite was Steve’s cool wedding band that GLOWS in the dark! When Megan got dressed into her gorgeous Avery Austin gown she transformed into the most beautiful bride, she looked like she was floating all day in her stunning lacy ivory dress.

Once we arrived at Meadows Christian Fellowship Megan and Steve chose to do a “First Touch” before their ceremony. She snuggled behind him and they quietly exchanged letters they had written for one another before praying together, it was such a sweet and meaningful moment. Before Megan walked down the aisle she was preceded by her “Flower Aunts” (who later made an epic appearance on the dance floor!) Steve stood in awe as Megan made her entrance and walked arm-in-arm with her Dad towards her groom. It was really special to have one of our former grooms and Megan’s close friend John officiate the wedding, he did a great job with the traditional ceremony (and also made sure to land a few jokes at Megan’s expense!)

After taking some pictures of the newlyweds with their families we made our way to the Elk Grove Pavilion for photos with Megan and Steve’s wonderfully kind and supportive wedding party. When we finished with the group we loved making a little faux-sunshine on this gloomy day with the help of our off-camera flashes and the early Fall colors before heading inside for the reception.

Megan is incredibly creative and hand-made a lot of the beautiful details for their wedding day. She took months to hand-dye and arrange wooden Sola flowers for their bouquets, boutonnieres and arrangements. She embroidered sweet flowers on the edge of her veil reminiscent of her gorgeous sleeve tattoo. She hand-painted the striking signs showing guests where to sit during the reception. She baked their wedding cake. She assembled the coolest impromptu Lego sculpture in the room during dinner. It was remarkable to see the work that Megan put in to make her wedding extra special and memorable!!

During dinner we were thrilled to have the opportunity to sneak away with Megan and Steve for pictures in the carousel room, we can’t think of a prettier or more romantic spot for some photos after dark! When we returned the dance floor soon opened for one of the most unforgettable nights of dancing that we have ever experienced – let’s just say that dance-screaming to “Come Sail Away” with Megan’s family was one of the highlights of our 2024 wedding season! This was just the best day, we are so grateful to have been a part of it!

Congratulations, Megan and Steve, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Samantha & Bobby’s Fairytale Cantigny Wedding

Samantha and Bobby first met when they were kids at karate. They then re-connected through Bobby's brother because he and Sam became best friends in high school . . .

Samantha and Bobby first met when they were kids at karate. They then re-connected through Bobby's brother because he and Sam became best friends in high school. Sam also became best friends with their sister Jessica, and throughout the years Sam and Bobby formed their own friendship. In Summer of 2018, Bobby took a chance and they officially began dating in August. The rest, as they say, is history.

When Sam and Bobby asked us to capture their wedding day they met with Conrad, so I did not have the opportunity to get to know them until their engagement session at The Morton Arboretum just a few weeks before their wedding. I had the best afternoon with these two, we had so much fun exploring together! That session gave me a real view into the depth of the love they share, it was a joy to then look forward to their wedding at Cantigny later that Summer!

Sam had always dreamed of having a fairytale wedding; all of her planning paid off and in the end this was truly a perfect day. She had traveled to NYC to find her dream dress at Kleinfeld Bridal (from “Say Yes to the Dress”) and the gown was truly perfect on her – when Sam floated down the stairs to show her besties her bridal look it was such a special moment!! Her hype crew kept the energy up as we ventured out onto the grounds at Cantigny for wedding party photos. Sam and Bobby were determined to take pictures ON the tanks at Cantigny, definitely a “first” for us and an epic moment we will never forget! Sam had a stepladder handy to scale the tanks like an absolute boss, we loved the energy of this fun and unforgettable moment!

Throughout the day we caught plenty of pop-culture references from Sam and Bobby, including their strong Vanderpump Rules energy when posing together with their wedding party in the gardens at Cantigny. After we wrapped up with photos it was time for the ceremony to begin near the reflecting pool on the lawn of the Cantigny mansion. It was breathtaking watching Sam walk from the mansion down the long aisle to meet with Bobby at the altar, she truly floated in her gown and looked like a true princess. Their ceremony was marked by touching vows and a sweet tree-planting ceremony with dirt from both of their childhood homes. After Sam and Bobby kissed the celebration truly began, but first we had to capture some slow-motion footage of Sam and Bobby running towards their reception and into the sunset together hand-in-hand. We snapped a few romantic pictures during the gorgeous sunset (and even included the tank stepladder for posterity!) before heading in for the perfect party. Sam’s Mom gave an amazing toast and some insight into where Sam gets her awesome sense of humor, her Mom started her speech by saying the pledge of allegiance! This was such a fun and unforgettable day, but through it all the love between Sam and Bobby was truly the star. We are so grateful to have been a part of this fairytale wedding!!

Congratulations, Sam and Bobby, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Jackie & Mike’s Epic Millburn Stables Wedding

Jackie and Mike first met at his tattoo parlor and knew each other for nearly twenty years before their wedding day arrived. We only met Jackie and Mike a few short weeks before their wedding, but on that day this loving and down-to-earth couple made us feel like old friends.

Jackie radiates warmth and kindness while Mike is very thoughtful and spent much of their wedding day connecting on a personal level with friends and family. We met up with Jackie and Mike at Millburn Stables – one of our new favorite venues – and were welcomed by Jackie’s son who made sure we felt right at home. Jackie and her girls were getting ready together and having the best time while Mike hung out with the guys waiting to see his bride. After a sweet first look we went outside for photos including some epic shots with the wedding party. We were so thankful for the friends who brought by their vintage black Cadillac stretch limo, it made the perfect backdrop for Jackie and Mike’s eclectic wedding!

After finishing with photos we went inside for the ceremony. Jackie chose to have her son, Dad and Grandpa all walk her down the aisle, which was such a sweet and special way to honor these three important men. Once they were pronounced husband and wife Jackie and Mike spent the rest of the evening catching up with their guests and celebrating their unique love. It was honestly just the best day and Christy and I were so happy to be a part of it!

Congratulations, Jackie and Mike, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together! You can find all of Jackie and Mike’s beautiful wedding photos by following this link.

Callie & Mark’s Perfect Heritage Prairie Farm Wedding

Callie and Mark met in high school through their close mutual friend, Something Blue’s very own Conrad. Conrad had a feeling way back then that these two would be perfect for each other, and it turns out that . . .

Callie and Mark met in high school through their close mutual friend, Something Blue’s very own Conrad. Conrad had a feeling way back then that these two would be perfect for each other, and it turns out that he was right all along. As Callie and Mark’s high school friendship grew into flirtation in college they started a long-distance relationship in 2015.

After dating long-distance for five years Callie and Mark finally moved in together in February 2021 to an apartment in Uptown Chicago with their beloved dog Buzz. A few years later they decided to buy Mark’s parent’s house – in preparing to move Callie asked Conrad if he would come capture some photos of her and Mark at their first apartment together before their lease ended. Little did Callie know that Mark and Conrad had hatched a plan for the photoshoot to be extra special, and Mark proposed outside their first apartment with Conrad there to capture the moment.

Over the years I have loved spending time with Callie and Mark through Conrad, and I was beyond excited to hear that they got engaged and wanted Something Blue to capture their wedding. We planned to do their engagement session in Chicago, starting first at the lakefront and ending in Uptown to honor the time they spent living together there. I really loved getting to know Callie and Mark better at their engagement session, they are so in-sync and their love feels like it is the most natural thing in the world.

When the Friday arrived for Callie and Mark’s wedding I was so nervous and excited to head to Heritage Prairie Farm with Christy to capture the day. We truly believe that Heritage Prairie Farm is THE perfect venue – it’s so welcoming and beautiful there and the food is without question the best wedding food we have ever experienced. It was a beautiful September Friday and so much fun to see so many friends when we arrived – having Conrad there as a groomsman and guest was definitely a wild experience! And it was so special seeing his fiancé Ami and friends Eve, Doyle and Pat not to mention the many guests that were there to celebrate Callie and Mark. We love all of these people and were so thankful to spend this time with them at our favorite place!!

Callie looked absolutely gorgeous, which Mark sweetly told her the second he saw her at their First Look. He didn’t take his eyes off her for the rest of the day, and he later delivered perhaps the most touching and romantic vows we have ever heard from a groom. As we all wiped away tears Callie and Mark kissed and joyfully toasted their signature drinks outside in the sunshine. And of course everyone then had to toast an Underberg together (those reaction shots might be some of my favorites from the day!)

The tent at Heritage Prairie Farm looked extra beautiful thanks to the talented floral team at Purple Rose. After giving a beautiful and heartfelt speech Conrad took a few moments out of enjoying dinner to fly his drone for some stunning sunset photos of Callie and Mark. Once the sun set we gathered together and “sent off” the newlyweds with sparklers (well, we took some fun pictures and then headed back to the tent for dancing and rejoicing!) Our friend Karen came along to create a beautiful live painting of Callie and Mark’s first dance – they danced to Phoebe Bridgers’ beautiful version of “Friday I’m in Love” that may just be my new favorite because it reminds me of Callie and Mark’s perfect love. This was truly the best day, what an honor and joy to be there to celebrate Callie and Mark!!

Congratulations, Callie and Mark, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Taylor dreamt of marrying an “old fashioned man” and found one in her soulmate Derek – and it just so happens that Derek can also make a mean Old Fashioned! 🥃 Taylor and Derek have known each other for thirteen years and were excited to tie-the-knot at the beautiful Bluestem Farm this Fall! She is free-spirited and he has a mischievous twinkly-eyed smile and we were honored to spend this day celebrating their love!

Taylor and Derek chose to exchange private vows before their ceremony, a beautiful new tradition that gives couples an intimate moment where they can truly connect on their wedding day. After sharing their vows Taylor and Derek were inseparable all day sharing plenty of snuggles and smooches together. We loved being part of this romantic wedding – there were lots of fun rustic details sprinkled throughout the gorgeous grounds of Bluestem Farm that made this wedding extra special. We loved the cowboy boots and Taylor’s custom suede bridal jacket (made with love by Derek’s sister-in-law) and the fact that Derek rocked the sunglasses Taylor gave him throughout the day. This was the most beautiful and perfect wedding and we were so honored to be a part of it!

Congratulations, Taylor and Derek, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Angela & Anthony’s Beautiful Venuti’s Wedding

Angela and Anthony’s journey began in the hallways of high school, where a simple "hello" turned into a friendship that neither of them could have anticipated. As they navigated through their late teenage years, Angela and Anthony learned a lot . . .

Angela and Anthony’s journey began in the hallways of high school, where a simple "hello" turned into a friendship that neither of them could have anticipated. As they navigated through their late teenage years, Angela and Anthony learned a lot about each other and began to grow closer and closer. When college came around, their love blossomed in ways they couldn't have imagined. They faced new challenges and adventures together at Dominican University. It was during these years that Angela and Anthony truly realized we were meant for each other.

Angela and Anthony spent their college days cooking together, having cozy movie nights, and exploring new restaurant spots. After 7 years together, Anthony proposed on a vacation in Puerto Rico in 2023 – he had roses scattered across the floor, champagne and charcuterie (one of Angela’s favorite things!) Now, as we look forward to our future as husband and wife, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. We are grateful for the journey that has brought us to this moment and are eager to create new memories together in this next chapter of our lives.

I loved getting to know Angela and Anthony during their engagement session last Fall, it was such fun to explore the beautiful campus of Dominican University with them! Being on-site where they fell in love was truly special, as we strolled through campus we even ran into one of their favorite teachers! This sweet evening really showed me the depth of Angela and Anthony’s love and I was truly excited to celebrate their wedding with them this September!

When Christy, Ryan and I arrived at Angela’s Mom’s house there was a palpable buzz of excitement as she got ready with her closest girls. Angela looked STUNNING even before she slid into her gorgeous Martina Liana gown – once she was dressed and ready we moved into the living room for her to see her bridesmaids and Dad for the first time as a bride. Angela’s Mom was so sweet and emotional all day, honestly one of my favorite parts of this beautiful wedding day was watching her Mom enjoy each special moment, her love for her daughter was really something special.

We met up with Anthony (AJ) at the majestic St. Giles Catholic Church in Oak Park before the ceremony, he was clearly a bit nervous but looked great. AJ had a super sweet reaction to seeing Angela for the first time in her wedding dress as she walked down the aisle. After their traditional ceremony Angela and AJ exchanged private vows in the church courtyard, a tender moment that we loved observing from afar.

After we finished at St. Giles we made our way to Cantigny for photographs with Angela and AJ’s wedding party. We had the most beautiful weather that day and loved strolling the grounds at Cantigny with Angela and AJ’s closest friends! From there we moved to Venuti’s for an unforgettable celebration – we cried together during their heartfelt toasts and then had the best time dancing the night away! We loved being part of this perfect day!!

Congratulations, Angela and Anthony, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Julie & Shane’s Gorgeous Cafe Brauer Wedding

Julie and Shane met the old fashioned way – on a dating app – although he likes to tell everyone she was waiting for him at baggage claim at O'Hare when he arrived after transferring for work from Ireland in 2019. Their first date was in November 2019 and a few months later they spent quite a lot of time getting to know one another when COVID-19 hit and they quarantined together. Shane proposed to Julie on top of O'Brien's Tower at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland the Summer of 2022.

Julie and Shane dreamed of having their wedding at the truly gorgeous Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park and decided to wait so that they could have their dream wedding there. In December 2023 they welcomed their adorable daughter Niamh to the world and started earnestly planning for their wedding at Cafe Brauer the following Summer.

Conrad was honored to join Julie and Shane as they celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends. Many of their guests came in from out of town for the occasion and Julie and Shane made sure to connect with as many of their loved ones as possible throughout this gorgeous day. It was truly a joy to be alongside this warm and loving couple as they officially began their journey together as husband and wife!

Congratulations, Julie and Shane, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Jessica & Josh’s Sweet Metropolis Ballroom Wedding

Josh and Jessica met through his cousin Keith in a story that could really only be described as “meant to be.” Jessica and Keith’s Moms were both pregnant together and met at Lutheran General Hospital – over the years . . .

Josh and Jessica met through his cousin Keith in a story that could really only be described as “meant to be.” Jessica and Keith’s Moms were both pregnant together and met at Lutheran General Hospital – over the years they maintained a friendship and Jessica and Keith stayed in contact. On New Year’s Eve 2010 Keith invited Jessica to a party that his wife’s Mom was hosting and of course his cousin Josh was also invited. Jessica and Josh met briefly that night and were snapped in a picture together. Several years went by before Jessica and Josh's paths crossed again.

During a text message conversation, Keith asked Jessica if she would like to be set up with Josh. At first, Jessica wasn't ready, because she had recently gone through a difficult breakup. However, after a couple of months, Jessica agreed. Jessica and Josh went to a birthday party at Keith and his wife Hannah's house. Jessica thought that Josh was in on the set-up and waited for him to make the first move. However, Josh didn't know the plan. No connection was made at the birthday party. But at another party three months later for The Fourth of July, Josh sat next to Jessica at dinner and struck up a conversation. They continued to enjoy talking throughout the evening. Josh and Jessica agree, in hindsight, that Keith not saying anything to Josh about the set up was a good idea because everything happened naturally. Josh friended Jessica on Facebook the next day, and they messaged back and forth for awhile. Being an English teacher, Jessica was impressed by Josh's thoughtful, detailed responses (and his proper use of grammar).

Their first date was eventful – they went to Elk Grove Bowl, had dinner at Mago Grill in Arlington Heights, walked through a street festival, and sat together at North School Park. Since then, they adopted the most adorable dog (Julie), developed a mutual friend group, traveled together, and survived the COVID-19 pandemic together. A few months after their fifth dating anniversary, Josh proposed to Jessica by the fountain at North School Park (accompanied by Julie) on a beautiful fall day in November.

When I first met Jessica and Josh I was struck by how connected they were and how easy it was to talk with them. They share a love of learning and appreciation for history and vintage aesthetics, and for me the real connection came in our shared fondness for our hometown of Arlington Heights! Jessica and Josh’s love of the local was very much a part of their wedding celebration at The Metropolis Ballroom, it was fun to be reminded of all the great aspects of Arlington Heights throughout the day (my favorite was the Arlington Club soda box they used for their wedding cards!)!

We planned Jessica and Josh’s first look at North School Park, the same place where they got engaged! It was really special to take pictures of the two of them near the fountain! After their first look we were able to connect with Josh’s uncle who had brought along his gorgeous custom restored “woody” wagon for pictures, this stunning vintage yellow car definitely set the scene for some unforgettable photographs! After positioning the car just so near the Arlington Heights Historical Museum and getting some great shots we went back downtown and met up with Jessica and Josh’s wedding party and family for photos. Their sweet dog Julie joined the fun for pictures and was such a good girl!!

It was soon time for Jessica and Josh to make things official and they did so upstairs in the ballroom with a traditional and emotional ceremony. Once they exchanged their vows and sealed their union with a kiss it was time to start celebrating!! We had a lot of fun with the {surprise!} Jack Sparrow impersonator that Jessica and Josh had hired to entertain their guests during cocktail hour. And then enjoyed listening to the thoughtful toasts given during dinner. After Jessica and Josh’s first dance together as husband and wife their guests danced the night away in honor of this wonderful couple. It was a perfect day and we were truly honored to be a part of it!

Congratulations, Jessica and Josh, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Laura & Brian’s Gorgeous Loft 21 Wedding

Laura and Brian met on Hinge in July 2022; their first date was SEVEN hours long and spilled into the early morning hours of his 38th birthday. We can’t think of a better birthday . . .

Laura and Brian met on Hinge in July 2022; their first date was SEVEN hours long and spilled into the early morning hours of his 38th birthday. We can’t think of a better birthday present than finally meeting the love of your life! Laura and Brian both say that they fell in love right away, within a year they had moved in together and were engaged in Italy on New Year’s Eve 2023.

I met Laura and Brian over Zoom and could tell through the screen that they shared a unique connection. As we got to know each other leading up to their wedding I was struck by their shared sense of humor and deep love for one another. When their wedding day arrived Conrad, Christy and I were all excited to celebrate along with Laura and Brian’s friends and family! They had the best squad assembled in their fun-loving wedding party – after getting-ready photos and a sweet First Look at the Courtyard Chicago Lincolnshire we made our way to the endlessly gorgeous Chicago Botanic Garden for photos. It was a beautiful day at the garden, we could have stayed all day taking pictures for this wedding! Laura looked stunning in her Viktor and Rolf gown and Brian could not keep his eyes off his bride. We loved shooting near the Japanese garden and exploring a bit near the rose garden before heading back to Loft 21 Events for the festivities.

When we arrived at Loft 21 we reconnected with the amazing Lauren and her team from Stunning and Brilliant Events. Lauren is a talented wedding coordinator and truly made Laura and Brian’s wedding both stunning and brilliant! The space downstairs at Loft 21 was transformed into a vision of romance by the amazing crew from La Fleur Decor, we don’t know if we have ever seen a more beautiful space for Laura and Brian’s traditional Jewish ceremony. Before the ceremony began we gathered together upstairs for an intimate ketubah signing. Their rabbi made this moment personal and it was truly something special to be in the room as Laura and Brian took part in this nearly 2000 year old tradition.

Once the ketubah was signed we moved together into the candlelit ceremony, it was an honor to be alongside Laura and Brian and their parents as they exchanged vows under the chuppah. The room was buzzing with excitement once Laura and Brian were officially married and it was time to celebrate! While the Loft 21 staff flipped the room to make it reception-ready Laura and Brian’s guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers upstairs, it was a fun and dramatic moment when the balcony doors rolled open to reveal the gorgeous reception space! Laura and Brian chose an East Coast style reception and danced throughout dinner thanks to the energy of H.Y.P.E Productions. Once dinner was over they danced the hora and rejoiced under a surprise burst of confetti, it was truly the perfect day!

Congratulations, Laura and Brian, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

We first connected with Michelle and Nolan when she scheduled an Extended Family session for her family. Michelle is a ray of light and after Christy photographed her family she had such a great time meeting this sweet couple she recommended we connect to talk about their wedding plans for next year. Well, within about thirty seconds of meeting Michelle and Nolan I was in love, this couple has such a warmth to them and a natural connection. I was overjoyed when they hired us to photograph their wedding at Salvage One for next September!!

I was so excited when Michelle and Nolan asked if I would come downtown to Salvage One for their engagement session, I always feel inspired when I am in this amazing space! I had the idea to invite Conrad to join us and shoot some film on his vintage cameras, film photography and Salvage One seem felt like a match made in heaven. So he loaded up some color and BW rolls in his Minolta TC-1 point-and-shoot, his Leica M6 and Mamiya RZ67 and went with me to shoot this engagement session on film. After he sent off Michelle and Nolan’s rolls to The Darkroom and got the scans back we were SO excited about these images, can we just shoot EVERYTHING on film please??! I mean, how stunning are all of these?

Conrad’s film scans are so gorgeous I can’t help but feel tempted to shoot every session on film now! But I think these digital images that I shot are pretty good too :) It was SO much fun to photograph these two at Salvage One, honestly this was such a dreamy afternoon!!

Thank you, Michelle and Nolan, for inviting us to share in your love story. We are beyond excited to celebrate your wedding next Fall!!

Laura & Zach’s Picture-Perfect Metropolis Ballroom Wedding

Laura and Zach met while working at the same office in Atlanta in November 2018. They bonded over a shared love of the Chicago Bears (she is from Libertyville and he is from outside of Peoria . . .

Laura and Zach met while working at the same office in Atlanta in November 2018. They bonded over a shared love of the Chicago Bears (she is from Libertyville and he is from outside of Peoria) and started dating shortly thereafter but kept it secret from their coworkers for years! In November 2021, Zach was transferred to Charlotte while Laura was transferred back home to Chicago. After a year of dating long distance Laura finally wore Zach down enough and convinced him to move home as well. After living together in her condo in the West Loop for nine months Zach proposed over Labor Day weekend at Devil’s Lake State Park. Not long after that they moved into their first home together in our hometown of Arlington Heights and began earnestly planning the wedding of their dreams!

Laura carefully planned every detail for their perfect wedding at The Metropolis Ballroom. She had a sweet little brigade of flower girls and ring bearers because she told her friends and family that “if they wanted their kids to come to the wedding then their kids would be IN the wedding,” which led to some absolutely adorable moments throughout the day! When Conrad and I arrived everyone was in great spirits and the little girls were loving twirling in their fancy white dresses, it was so cute! After pampering by the talented team at Hairs 2 The Bride Laura slipped into her beautiful Maggie Sotero gown, she looked absolutely gorgeous. Then it was time for Laura and Zach to have their First Look on the Metropolis veranda, it was such a romantic moment. After spending a little time admiring one another and exchanging letters Laura and Zach took Polaroid photos of each other on the veranda to use later as their cake topper.

It was a pleasure getting to know their wedding planner Amber from Peony Events throughout the day, Amber helped to make sure every detail was executed to fit Laura’s vision for their perfect wedding day. Laura had printed a photograph of every married couple who was coming as a guest to the wedding and everyone received those pictures as their parting favor, it was SO thoughtful and sweet! Laura and Zach each had their own disposable cameras that they used throughout the day to snap pictures of each other, honestly we would LOVE to see those shots once the film gets developed! One last memorable detail was that Laura had hired a “live painter” to forever capture their ceremony in paint, Jennifer from Dihel Art did a wonderful job capturing the essence of this beautiful day! As the live band played to celebrate the newlyweds we snuck outside to the Arlington Alfresco for some epic paparazzi-style photos of Laura and Zach, it was awesome to hear the roaring crowd cheering for these two as we worked our way through the streets snapping pictures! It truly was a picture-perfect day that we will always be thankful to have been a part of!

Congratulations, Laura and Zach, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Christine & Mason’s Gorgeous Morton Arboretum Wedding

I first met Christine when she helped her good friend Stephanie with her dog at her engagement session in the Fall of 2022. Christine and Stephanie are besties from college and I knew right away that they had a special friendship, I mean how many people would give up a weekend afternoon to help manage their friend’s dog during a photo shoot?! But that’s the kind of person Christine is, selfless and kind and willing to go the extra mile for her friends.

I was thrilled when Christine invited us to photograph her wedding to her fiancé Mason! We had a lovely afternoon together during their engagement session last Summer at The Morton Arboretum where we would return in 2024 for their wedding day. I loved exploring the beautiful sprawling property with Christine and Mason and finding pockets of pretty light with them, that session made me so excited for their wedding!

When the big day arrived Conrad and I met Christine upstairs at the Morton Arboretum where she was waiting with her Mom and sister Rachel. Christine looked gorgeous in her gown from Bri’Zan Couture, and her hair and makeup was perfect thanks to the talented team from The Bridal Beauty Team. After the beautiful flowers arrived from Shamrock Garden Florals we were ready to move outside – Christine first had a sweet and emotional reveal with her Dad before her First Look with Mason. Once everyone had seen Christine we moved across the Arboretum to the Thornhill Education Center for photos. Christine and Mason chose a small wedding party – only her sister Rachel and his best friend Jake – and we had the best time taking pictures with these four. We just love small wedding parties, there’s something so intimate and comfortable about spending time with the people you love most on your wedding day. After taking pictures outside we were given the opportunity to make some beautiful photographs inside the Thornhill Education Center, those were some of our favorite moments from the day!

Christine and Mason’s ceremony took place at the Grand Garden and was absolutely stunning – this gorgeous site felt like an Italian vista and was the perfect spot for this sweet couple to exchange their vows. After their ceremony we moved into the Ginko Room to celebrate the newlyweds, our very own Ashley and Marcella had gone above and beyond as day-of coordinators to help make the room look party-ready. We snuck away during the reception to enjoy beautiful golden light across the pond before the sun set and the dance floor opened. Christine and Mason’s guests danced the night away (the party was so much fun that we had to give some wedding crashers the boot!) It was an amazing day and we were so grateful to share in Christine and Mason’s love story 💙

Congratulations, Christine and Mason, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Nicole & Roger’s Perfect Seven Bridges Golf Club Wedding

Nicole and Roger’s story started out as most modern love stories do. . . on the internet. In Spring of 2019 they matched on Hinge. Due to Roger “not mixing work with personal life” they unmatched after three messages. Then, in September of that same year, Nicole got into a minor fender bender in Berwyn and Roger was there in full firefighter gear to save the day. They both noticed the other, but chose to not mention the infamous Hinge fail. Then in October, Nicole came across Roger on Bumble, and decided to swipe right yet again. This time, it ended with drinks at Imperial Oak on October 29, and the rest they say is history! Then, on July 19, 2023 after a great day of exploring Door County, Nicole and Roger got engaged!

From the moment I met Nicole and Roger at our Studio I knew that these two were meant to be together. I loved getting to know them better at their engagement session last Fall – they are just so easy to be around and so comfortable with one another, it was truly a joy to take their pictures! These two are honestly just perfect together, being around them makes me believe in true love. Conrad and Ryan and I were beyond excited to celebrate their wedding with them this August at Seven Bridges Golf Club!

When we arrived at Nicole’s childhood home to take pictures of the girls getting ready we were greeted by so much joy, and Nicole was absolutely glowing. Nicole had a sweet “first look” with her Dad on the staircase at their home (I just LOVE a good staircase moment) and then we made our way to Seven Bridges for things to really get started. We took some pictures of the girls on the course before moving them back inside and swapping out for Roger and the guys. When I saw Roger for the first time that day I told him how gorgeous Nicole looked and he couldn’t hold back his emotions. It was honestly one of the sweetest moments I have ever shared with a groom, the way he loves her is so beautiful. As the ceremony began Roger had his back turned to the building and turned around just as Nicole reached the end of the aisle, his reaction to seeing his bride was so emotional and perfect. After their sweet ceremony we snuck off with Nicole and Roger for some pretty golden photos before the reception began. Once Nicole and Roger were introduced to their cheering guests it really felt like a party – we loved hearing each toast and clinking our glasses along with the newlyweds’ friends and family to get them to kiss. After gobbling up THE most delicious donuts we have ever had from DeEtta’s Bakery the dance floor opened and everyone rushed to party, it was honestly just the best night. We would do it all over again if we could, sending so much love and gratitude to this wonderful couple!!

Congratulations, Nicole and Roger, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Claire & Jesus’ Sweet Rolling Green Country Club Wedding

Claire and Jesus met in 2017 while working at the same restaurant downtown. They worked the same shifts and would go out after work, and the more they hung out and got to know each other they realized. . .

Claire and Jesus met in 2017 while working at the same restaurant downtown. They worked the same shifts and would go out after work, as they hung out more and got to know each other they realized how much they wanted to be together. In 2021 they welcomed their first baby, the sweetest little boy named Julian. In November 2022, Claire and Jesus got engaged at Harmony Park in downtown Arlington Heights and had a party right after at La Tasca with their friends and family. Then in 2023 Claire and Jesus welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Sophia – we were so excited to come alongside this beautiful family for their wedding celebration!

Conrad spent some time with Claire and Jesus and their kids at a pretty family / engagement session earlier this Summer. Claire’s amazing Mom came along to help with Julian and Sophia, it was wonderful to see them all again once Claire and Jesus’ wedding day rolled along! Due to a last-minute change of plans the celebration was moved to the gorgeous Rolling Green Country Club, but first we met with the girls for some “getting ready” photos at the hotel. Claire’s friends and close female relatives were gathered together to get ready and were SO supportive of the beautiful bride – their reaction to seeing Claire in her perfect dress from Vanessa’s Modern Bride was one of the best we have seen! The girls kept their hype-energy high throughout the day and it was just so much fun to be with them to celebrate!

Claire’s Mom lovingly served as her florist and created all of the centerpieces along with Claire’s bouquet and Jesus’ boutonniere. We always appreciate a DIY effort on a wedding day but this was particularly impressive! After Claire and Jesus’ emotional first look together we explored the course and took some photos out on the bridge, we could have spent all day photographing this sweet and loving couple together. Later Julian and Sophia arrived and looked absolutely adorable in their fancy wedding clothes! Julian is a man on the move and spent a lot of the day getting his little boy energy out, while sweet Sophia wanted to be close to her Momma.

After capturing some family photos it was time for the ceremony under the shade of the oaks near the clubhouse. Claire’s friend and maid of honor Maddy officiated their wedding, she said she was nervous but absolutely crushed it and the ceremony was filled with beautiful and emotional moments. Once Claire and Jesus exchanged vows and rings the party really began! Lively music played on the back porch during cocktail hour before guests were treated to a delicious dinner thanks to the wonderful staff at Rolling Green. During their first dance Claire and Jesus had their kids join them for the sweetest moment as a family, we can only imagine how special those photos will be to Julian and Sophia when they are older! We snuck outside during golden hour for some stunning sunset pictures of the newlyweds before dancing the night away. It was the most perfect day, we were truly thankful to be a part of Claire and Jesus’ wedding!

Congratulations, Claire and Jesus, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Colleen & Dylan’s Beautiful Makray Memorial Golf Club Wedding

Colleen and Dylan met in their high school Physics class and “were instantly in love.” They attended different colleges and went their separate ways, but before long they got back together and fell right back in love. . .

Colleen and Dylan met in their high school Physics class and “were instantly in love.” They attended different colleges and went their separate ways, but before long they got back together and fell right back in love. For Colleen and Dylan, there really never was a question that they were meant to be together. Dylan proposed to Colleen on a boat on Lake Michigan (just like their Senior prom!) and they agreed to spend the rest of their lives together

I loved getting to know Colleen and Dylan and seeing their love and connection firsthand at their engagement session at the Chicago Botanic Garden last Summer. Dylan is so kind and supportive of Colleen, they bring out the best in each other.

Conrad, Lindsay and I were all excited to celebrate Colleen and Dylan, we had a beautiful Summer day for their wedding! After doing some “getting ready” photos at Colleen’s childhood home we made our way to their traditional Catholic ceremony at the beautiful St. Anne’s in Barrington. Once Colleen and Dylan were officially husband and wife they were surprised by his brothers with a gorgeous classic Rolls Royce to travel in style to Makray Memorial Golf Club.

We had lots of fun taking pictures of Colleen and Dylan’s wedding party (and their adorable dog even joined the fun for a few shots!) on the beautiful course at Makray. We always love being at Makray and seeing old friends and making new memories there! During cocktail hour Colleen and Dylan were treated to a pretty rainbow over the terrace as their guests enjoyed drinks and appetizers. We then snuck away during dinner to take some pretty sunset photos before returning for their thoughtful and emotional toasts. It was a perfect day, we were honored to be a part of this celebration!

Congratulations, Colleen and Dylan, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Erin & Joe’s Perfect Victoria in the Park Wedding

Erin and Joe's love story began in college at the University of Illinois, where they were both involved in club sports — Erin in volleyball and Joey in soccer. Their paths crossed at a charity soccer game organized by Joey, and they soon found themselves spending a lot of time together in group settings thanks to their shared circle of friends. As the spring semester of their junior year rolled around, Joey decided to take the next step and asked Erin out on a date. Their connection grew stronger over the months and soon they officially became a couple.

Fast forward six years – after a long day of teaching and coaching, Erin was looking forward to celebrating their 6th anniversary at one of their favorite restaurants. Little did she know that Joey had something extraordinary in store. He surprised her with six dozen roses to mark their six years together. And then, in a moment filled with happiness and tears (by Erin, of course), Joey got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Overwhelmed with emotion, Erin joyfully said yes!

Conrad loved getting to know Erin and Joe at their beautiful engagement session at The Botanic Garden last Fall. Erin and Joe share a sweet connection – he brings out her playful side and it was a joy to be in the presence of their love. When their wedding day arrived we were all so excited to celebrate with this wonderful couple! It was a HOT day in late June and we were thankful for the air conditioning and natural light from the big beautiful windows at Victoria in the Park, we had the opportunity to take most of our photos inside that day!!

When we arrived the girls were in great spirits as they were glammed up by Sophia DeFrancesco’s amazing hair and makeup team. Erin looked radiant and it was SO cute to see her bridesmaids reactions when she first put on her gorgeous wedding dress! Then Erin walked down Victoria in the Park’s beautiful curved staircase to see Joey for the first time as a bride, their first look was such a sweet and special moment. We took lots of fun photos of Erin and Joe and their friends and family on those stairs before sneaking outside for just a few (hot!) shots before their ceremony.

After Erin and Joe’s emotional wedding ceremony we were ready to start the celebration, it was great fun being a part of this big Italian family party! Once everyone took their seats we were treated to some heartfelt toasts and Erin and Joe’s adorable first dance. Looking out the windows we could see the light changing and took the newlyweds outside for some gorgeous sunset photos. From there the party amped up thanks to Okyne Medialab, be sure to scroll all the way through to see some hilarious shots that Christy got of the flower girl and ring bearer with “fat head” cutouts of Joey on the dance floor! We love this couple and had the most amazing time celebrating with them!!

Congratulations, Erin and Joe, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Sarah & Ed’s Romantic Rolling Green Country Club Wedding

Sarah and Ed met in graduate school when some of their classmates people got together for a Harry Potter trivia night and they ended up on the same team. That was the first time they had hung out with each other outside of class . . .

Sarah and Ed met in graduate school when some of their classmates people got together for a Harry Potter trivia night and they ended up on the same team. That was the first time they had hung out with each other outside of class, and they really hit it off. Unfortunately, that first connection happened right before COVID hit, so Sarah and Ed weren't able to see each other for a while, even in class. It wasn't until months later that Sarah worked up the nerve to get Ed's number from a mutual friend and text him.

Sarah and Ed started talking over winter break while he was in Lithuania visiting family, which wasn't easy with the time difference, but they made it work. Once Ed came back to the State they made plans right away and it wasn't long before they had fallen in love. Sarah and Ed got engaged just over two years later while at the same restaurant where they celebrated their first Valentine's Day together.

I loved getting to know Sarah and Ed at they engagement session last Fall. Sarah is gorgeous inside and out, and witnessing the love between Sarah and Ed is something that I really enjoyed being part of. When their wedding day arrived the weather was absolutely gorgeous for a perfect celebration at our hometown country club Rolling Green. Christy and I arrived and met Sarah and her besties in Rolling Green’s adorable new bridal suite, we loved photographing the girls in this fun space! Once Sarah was dressed she went outside for her first look with Ed, his reaction to seeing his bride was so incredibly sweet. We loved exploring the course at Rolling Green for photos with Sarah and Ed’s wedding party!

After a beautiful ceremony overlooking the pond and water wheel Ed’s family presented the newlyweds with a special gift to honor their Lithuanian tradition. We celebrated together with their friends and family and just had the best day with this wonderful couple!!

Congratulations, Sarah and Ed, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
